Lunch at Yame

I had a brief lunch at YaMe, located in the Park Road Shopping Center, in Charlotte, NC. It was the first time that I had a sit-down lunch near the end of the summer by myself. Eating alone may seem like a daunting task at first, but it oftentimes can be very rewarding, especially after a long day. I've found that eating alone gives you the opportunity to explore what YOU love to eat, rather than what others chose for you.

This time I decided to choose all appetizers/small dishes to try from, so I could try more food by myself. I ordered the scallion pancakes, chicken skewers, and pork buns. I was seated right away, and the restaurant was fairly slow at the time, so I felt myself looking out the window and checking my phone while I waited. Fortunately, the food arrived fast and the person running the food was polite.

My first impressions of the dishes were that they smelled absolutely amazing. The aroma of fried oil and the distinct smell of the soy ponzu sauce permeated the air. I tried the scallion pancakes first, which had the perfect crunch and dipping it into the sauce intensified the flavor even more. The portion size was decent for an appetizer, I would definitely recommend sharing this dish. Next, I moved onto the pork buns, which had a soft doughy exterior and was filled with a meaty, pork filling. They were not as good as the scallion pancakes, but still remained a remarkable stand-alone. Last but not least, I tried the chicken skewers which came with a shrimp sauce to dip. The combination of the tangy mayonnaise sauce and the tender chicken skewers was another highlight of my meal. Out of all the dishes, the scallion pancakes were definitely first, with the chicken skewers trailing shortly after, and the pork buns as last but still great on their own.

Overall:

I would definitely recommend YaMe Asian Noodles for anyone who is looking to share appetizers/small plates or for a quick bite to eat. If I could sum up my meal experience in three words... it would be fast, pleasant, and an indulgence. Although I didn't get to try much on the menu on this trip, I intend to come back and try a lot more of their food including their entrees and boba milk tea. Feel free to try this wonderful restaurant located on Park Road in Charlotte whenever you have the chance.
